Sustainable travel plans 'can save businesses money'
Money and time are currently being saved by hundreds of businesses by providing their employees with sustainable travel plans, the Department for Transport (DfT) stated.
Reducing worker dependence on cars can not only deliver environmental benefits but also improves productivity and financial prospects.
Under the DfT's National Business Travel Network (NBTN), companies can promote the idea of workplace travel plans and share best practice.
NBTN programme director Heather McInroy said successful initiatives should encourage other businesses and employees to take advantage of sustainable travel.
"As well as strong environmental reasons to reduce commuting and business travel by car, there are substantial cost savings to be realised by organisations too'," she stated.
